Biotechnology & Engineering Hours FAQs

Biotech Service Hours Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I do for hours?
A: Continue to check the Biotech & Engineering Hour Opportunity page for specific hour opportunities offered throughout the county and state. You should also find other science and engineering related activities on your own and record them as you complete them.

Q: Do I have to get my hours approved before I complete them?
A: As long as the hours are truly science and engineering related, and there's no question as to whether or not they fall in these two categories, you do NOT need permission. However, if you are unsure and need clarification, please email Mrs. Walton

Q: Can I count NHS and Key Club Hours as part of the 20 allowed community service hours?
A: Yes, you can count these. However, please keep in mind, only 20 of the total 100 hours may be non-science/engineering related.

Q: How do I know how many hours I've completed?
A: You should be keeping your own personal log so you have an idea of how many hours you've completed. If you are in doubt, you should email Mrs. Walton for confirmation.

Q: Does camping count as Biotech hours?
A: No, camping does not count towards Biotech service hours.

Q: I went to a museum or other activity where I was unable to get a signature. What should I do?

A: You should take pictures or submit some sort of certificate if that is provided.
