Late Arrival and Early Dismissal
Late Arrival of Students (Tardy)
It is important to attend school every school day and arrive on time. Students arriving after the official start of the class or school day will be considered late. When students arrive late at school they must use appropriate school-based, check-in procedures. Records regarding tardiness will be maintained, and appropriate discipline will be imposed for recurring tardiness.
Early Dismissal of Students
Parents must provide advance notice and permission and comply with the school's release procedures when a student leaves the school premises during regular school hours for any reason. The principal shall not release a student during the school day to any person not authorized to assume responsibility for the student. All students, including declared 18-year-olds, must follow the established release procedures.
How to request an early dismissal
All early dismissals will be coordinated through the appropriate alpha administrative secretary. A student should turn in a note from a parent/legal guardian to the appropriate alpha administrative secretary before school starts in the morning.
The written request must include:
- a reason for leaving
- time of dismissal
- parent/guardian's signature and telephone number
An early dismissal pass is written for the student only after verbal confirmation is received from a parent or guardian.
Students who do not follow proper procedure for checking in or out of school with the Alpha Secretary will receive an unexcused absence for each class missed and will be subject to disciplinary action.
Students who leave school without gaining proper approval from school authorities, will receive a discipline referral for improper check out procedure. A parent may not excuse this type of absence after the fact.
