What is Behind the Wheel?

Experience top-tier driver education with our comprehensive Behind the Wheel program! Here's what you get:

  • 14 hours of in-car instruction over a 7-day session:
    • 7 hours of hands-on driving with a certified instructor.
    • 7 hours of observation alongside another student driver, guided by the same certified instructor.
  • Road skills evaluation on the final day to ensure you're ready to hit the road with confidence.

Registration, Payment, Requirements, & Contact

Registration

Payment

  • Make Payment online through PWCS Student QuickPay or,
  • Submit a check/money order payable to Osbourn Park High School for $240 to Mrs. Link.
  • Email Receipt of Payment to Rodney Hodgson ([email protected]) to schedule classes.

After Payment

  • Once payment is received and processed, you will receive an email to schedule your after-school dates.
  • If School Behind-the-Wheel schedule is not available on the Driver's Ed. website, Mr. Hodgson will confirm your In-School session dates.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid learner's permit.
  • Must be currently enrolled in HPE II or completed Classroom DE and hold a DEC-District 8 Card.
  • Drive a minimum of 10 hours with parent supervision.

A student is required to attend the scheduled days for instruction. If you cannot commit to the scheduled meeting dates and times, please schedule a different session. Missing days of instruction may cause the student to not meet the required time of instruction, delays in the licensing process, and forfeiture of the $240 fee. Rescheduling of missed days will be on availability only.

Available Range & Road Instruction

When selecting a schedule, please be sure to select a specific group that contains 2 RANGE appointments followed by the 5 consecutive days of ROAD driving appointments for a total of 7 days.

Once you have selected your RANGE days, you may choose a different time for ROAD DAYS WITHIN THAT GROUP (if available), but all RANGE and ROAD days should be within the group.

Notes:

  • Please complete 10 hours of guided driving practice with a valid permit before attending the first range class.
  • Please meet your instructor at the DE Tower located on the Driver's Ed lot at your scheduled time.
  • Classroom completion documentation, DEC-District 8 card, or enrollment in HPE II must be presented at first driving session.
