Automotive Technology

The Automotive Technology program of study teaches CTE learners how to repair and refinish automobiles and service various types of vehicles. CTE learners may learn to collect payment for services or supplies and perform typical vehicle maintenance procedures such as lubrication, oil changes, installation of antifreeze, or replacement of accessories like wiper blades or tires.

Automotive Technology is a National Automotive Technicians Foundation (NATEF) accredited program of study taught by an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified auto technician that prepares graduates for ASE exams. The Automotive Technology program's mission is to assist the student in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attributes that enable success as an entry-level worker in the field of automotive technology as well as pursuing a career in a related occupational field.

Specialty program applications will be accepted November 1, 2024-February 1, 2025.

Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 who attend one of the following schools:

Program Information

Transfer Program

Students participating in this program will transfer to the program location for all courses and activities.

Express bus transportation is available to accepted students living outside the program location boundaries through Specialty Program Transportation.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to assist the student(s) in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary to be a successful entry-level Technician in the Automotive Industry and/or continue their education in a related occupational field.

Program Objectives

  • To emphasize quality work, interest, pride, and enthusiasm in the context of real workplace responsibilities
  • To increase student experiences in problem-solving, deductive reasoning, judgment, and decision-making skills within a team environment
  • To practice time management, planning, and organizational skills in the context of real workplace responsibilities
  • To demonstrate knowledge of automotive technology safety in the context of real workplace responsibilities
  • To work cooperatively with team members to complete assigned tasks in the context of real workplace responsibilities
  • To produce employable entry-level technicians, with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed and the character traits desired by employers in the Automotive community.
