AP Statistics

Grades: 11-12

Credit: 1 Prerequisite: Algebra II

Description: The Advanced Placement Statistics course introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes: • Exploring Data: observing patterns and departures from patterns, anticipating patterns • Planning a Study: deciding what and how to measure • Producing models using probability theory and simulation, •Inference: drawing conclusions from sample data. Students are required to take the AP Statistics examination which is administered in May. Students who successfully complete the course and the Advanced Placement Statistics Examination may receive credit for a one-semester introductory college statistics course.

Summer Assignment: There is no Summer Assignment for AP Statistics. Just have a good summer and be ready to go starting the first day in August.

*You will need access to a TI-84 calculator for this class. Casio calculators are acceptable, but the book is specifically written for the TI.
