Bee in the Know

Week of October 24, 2021

It’s hard to believe that we’re entering the final week of the 1st quarter! Despite new and sometimes unexpected challenges, we’ve made it through the first quarter and have finally started to feel a sense of normalcy. The final week of the first quarter will undoubtedly be an exciting one as it’s Homecoming Week! Our SCA has been busy planning spirit days, the Pep Rally, and the Homecoming dance. We are excited to see school spirit displayed each day next week! The Homecoming football game on Friday night will also feature the induction of our first ever OP Sports Hall of Fame. We hope to have a great turnout to celebrate the school and our inductees. Hope to see you there!

October Jackets of the Month

Congratulations to Luis Hernandez (ESOL teacher) and Angel Reyna-Guzman (student) for winning October Jackets of the Month! Winners were nominated by staff and/or peers for displaying our Yellow Jacket attributes of Kindness, Perseverance, Hardwork, Respect and Optimism. Each recipient received an OP bookbag and medal.

EL (English Learner) Program Newcomer Students Visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps

On Tuesday, October 13th, 90 students from the EL program at Osbourn Park High School visited the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia. This was a unique opportunity to make a connection between learning English and developing knowledge of history firsthand. Students encountered a Marine on their arrival who explained how to make the most of the exhibits. Thereafter, our students learned about the history of the United States Marine Corps in places such as France, Korea, and Vietnam. It was delightful to see our students engage with the material they viewed.
