Bee in the Know

Week of December 5, 2021

It’s getting colder out there! We were not expecting to wake up this past week and see snow coming down on our rides into school but it happened. With the colder weather, remember that the building opens each morning at 7am. If you arrive earlier than that you can come in to door #1, where one of our security staff members will monitor students in the gym lobby so that you aren’t waiting in the cold. Remember, even though it may be cold outside, hats and hoodies are not permitted to be worn inside.

We have two weeks left before we go on break again. Students, use this time to make sure you are caught up on all of your work so that you can enjoy your winter break without worrying about grades or assignments. We will continue to run activity buses on Tuesdays and Thursdays so that you can stay after for extra help with your teacher or one of our honor societies. We will not be running activity buses on Thursday, December 16th. A reminder will follow in the student canvas page.

We will be having our Faculty Holiday Get Together in mid December. We are planning to raffle gift cards as prizes for our teachers and staff. Please consider donating a small gift or gift card to a restaurant, store, or service establishment to help make the raffle extraordinary for our staff! If you wish to donate, please bring it to Marie Emery in the main office prior to December 15, 2021. Thank you very much!

Finally: WE WANT YOUR PHOTOS! Do you have any recent, candid pictures of your OP student that would look great in the yearbook (OP sports pics, too!)? Send them to us via the app YEARBOOK SNAP. Simply download the app and search for Osbourn Park HS to upload your photos for consideration. The code for OP is "opyearbook" (all lowercase). There is no cost to send in photos. We want to get every Yellow Jacket represented in the yearbook as many times as possible, so please consider sending us your best candid pics for consideration in this year’s yearbook! Sending us a photo does not guarantee it will appear in the yearbook, but it certainly can't hurt to try!

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Scott Barber at Barberds@pwcs.edu.

OPHS World Language Classes Give Thanks

"We Give Thanks"

Students in Señorita Brown's Spanish 1 and Magistra Tra's Latin 2/3 classes completed a Thanksgiving activity before the break to focus on what we are thankful for -- in our target languages! After a class discussion, students created "turkey feathers" by outlining their hands and writing what they were thankful for on each finger/"feather" in Spanish and Latin. About 70-80 hands were combined to make this awesome turkey showing how we give thanks!
