Congratulations Class of 2021!

On behalf of myself and the entire Osbourn Park High School faculty and staff, we are thrilled to share with you the details of our in-person graduation ceremony! We are extremely grateful to the dedicated PWCS Superintendent Staff that worked tirelessly with state health and elected officials to be able to provide this opportunity for our graduates. Without their advocacy, this special ceremony would not be possible. We hope each of our graduates and their families enjoy all that was done to make this special moment happen for the Class of 2021. As this has been a very fluid and on-going endeavor, we wanted to share important ceremony information for both graduates and parents to ensure a ceremony that is both safe and celebratory!

Osbourn Park High School Graduation 2021

June 5th, 2021 @ 7:00 p.m.

Graduates:

  • Pre-Graduation Date Requirements
    • All school-issued items must be returned to participate in the graduation ceremony. These items include devices, textbooks/library books, uniforms, counseling fees, instruments.
    • REQUIRED: Senior Graduation Meeting June 4, 2021, at 11am. Webinar link will be sent to your school e-mail address. No exceptions. ALL students must attend.
    • REQUIRED: View this ceremony video prior to graduation so you know exactly what is expected of you as you process to, across, and off the stage, and receive your diploma. **Please note, the video says seating will be socially distanced, but that is no longer the case. The video was completed prior to the updated Governor’s Orders.

Ceremony Video

  • Arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. with cap/gown/mask optional on June 5
  • What to wear?
    • All students are required to wear their blue cap and gown ordered through Balfour.
      • Tassel on the RIGHT (R) side of cap
      • Dress shoes should also be worn. Keep in mind that you will be walking up and down stairs when choosing your shoes.
      • Gentlemen should wear dress slacks, dress shirts and dress shoes. Ties are optional.
      • Ladies should wear dress clothes (dresses, skirts, or dress slacks are acceptable.
      • Gowns may not be decorated.
      • You may want to include dark hair pins in your graduation cap
      • Caps may be decorated but must be two-dimensional and must be pre-approved by an administrator at Senior Hive Drive.
  • No handbags, cameras, etc.
    • You will not be allowed to carry anything in your hands while crossing the stage
    • We cannot take responsibility for personal items
    • We will not be able to hold any items for graduates
  • Grad parking: Look for the 2nd entrance (when arriving from Manassas area), follow signs to VIP parking (show cap as proof)
    • Carpooling with family? They must drop you off and then park in main lot. Staff will usher graduates to the proper location
  • Enter the pavilion through VIP gate. Proceed to orchestra pit; faculty will help you find your assigned seat
  • Be in your seat NO LATER THAN 6:30PM to receive ceremony instructions
  • Water bottles will be available outside by merchandise stand
  • Balfour will have a vendor rep on site in the event of cap/gown/tassel issues

Families & Guests:

  • Follow directions of JLL parking lot staff
  • Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
  • Individual water bottles are permitted and encouraged due to expected heat
  • No food or personal items (chairs, blankets, etc.) may be brought in
  • No balloons, face cutouts, noisemakers, etc will be permitted. JLL staff will require you to return these items to your car before being admitted
  • Only CLEAR bags allowed (max 12”x6”x12”); do not bring in camera bags, only bring the camera, if desired
  • Courtesy carts available (check-in at guest services inside main gate); accessible seating is available
  • Face mask optional

Key Points:

  • Graduation will be live streamed (link will be provided) and projected on to JLL jumbotrons
  • Digital programs available (QR code will be provided) and two copies will be included in graduates diploma packet
  • Departure: Grads and Guests will exit same gate they entered. Meet ups/celebrations must take place off site. Guests and graduates must immediately depart Jiffy Lube Live
  • We ordered a “Congratulations Seniors” yard sign from Sign Gypsies. Stop by OPHS between June 4 and 6 with your dressed graduate for a photo op!

 

Hive Drive Information

 

  • Senior Hive Drive- 6/3 2-5 pm
  • Underclassman Hive Drive- 6/9 & 6/10 3-5pm

Seniors! Please plan on attending the Senior Hive Drive on June 3rd if you need to complete any of the following. See details below for pickup/drop off items and alpha breakdown:

Alpha last name time-slots:

  • A-F 2:00-3;00 pm
  • G-0 3:00-4:00 pm
  • P-Z 4:00-5:00 pm

Pickup/Drop off Items:

  • Laptop Collection (see details below)
  • Senior Cords (pickup)
  • Textbook (drop off)
  • Senior Obligations (see details below)

Laptops:

  • Laptop
  • Charging cord
  • Carrying sleeve

Devices will be evaluated for damage at the time of return. Damage and loss fees are as follows:

  • Missing charger: $30
  • Broken Screen: $50-$460
  • Broken Device: Up to $460
  • Lost Device: $460

Senior Obligations:

The senior obligation list will be e-mailed out to students who owe an obligation on Friday, May 28. Students will need to either bring their obligation or money to pay for their obligation, to the Hive Drive. Examples of obligations are counseling fees, textbooks, uniforms, and senior surveys.

**If you do not turn in your laptop or complete your obligations, you will not participate in graduation.

The Art Department will be collecting Art Kits at the Senior Hive Drive on June 3rd, and Underclassman Hive Drives on 6/9 and 6/10. In addition, there will be a box for students to drop off supplies outside Door 1 from 7:30-2pm each day. Please collect all reusable supplies in the bag provided.

 

Additional registration period for Summer School registration runs May 24-June 11

Late registration is May 24 to June 11 for certain in-person high school summer school programs and SOL testing. Check the High School Summer School Program webpage for important information including dates, times, and eligibility. Please note: If your child needs to take an SOL this summer, they must register before the close of registration on June 11. Students will not be permitted to take an SOL test without registering.

 

School Supply Drive

The community service committee is hosting a school supply drive on Tuesday, June 1; Thursday, June 3; and Friday, June 4 from 6-8 p.m. Come by the school at these times to drop off any of your extra school supplies. You can also donate using our Amazon Wish List  and potentially earn hours for clubs like Key Club and National Honor Society.

Online Booster Auction

The Boosters online auction is scheduled to start Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and go through Sunday at 11:59 p.m.
