Dear Student: During a time of odd (and we do mean odduncertainty, Northern Virginia Community College is pleased to announce a new program to help you JumpStart your college education.This summer, NOVA will offer a selection of online tuition-free college classes that you can take, even while you’re still in high school.  Rising seniors and those of you graduating this spring are eligible to JumpStart your college education!

The online courses in our new JumpStart summer program have been selected because they fulfill NOVA degree requirements and transfer well to other colleges and universities. Also, in a new collab with Amazon Web Services, the JumpStart offerings will include an online course in Cloud Computing, giving you your first step to the great-paying-and-lots-of-freedom high-tech career of your dreams.

Instead, the program provides you with an accelerated, accessible and affordable (did we mention thatit’stuition free?) opportunity to earntransferable college-only credits.

If you’re interested in JumpStarting your college career, your first step is to apply to NOVAhttps://www.nvcc.edu/admissions/apply/Within a day or so after you have completed your NOVA college application, you can use your assigned student ID number, user name and password to apply for the JumpStart Program.If you are already a NOVA student, you can skip right to the JumpStart application using your current NOVA username and pasasword.

Many are finding it a little tough to motivate their students during this very unusual time. With the school year cut short by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, many students have lost some of the wind that was helping push them through to the end of the school yearWe are particularly sad for the high school seniors who did not have the opportunity to share their graduation victory with the world.  

However, this letter is to let you know of an opportunity that we hope will help a bit during this time.  

 

Northern Virginia Community College is pleased to announce a new program to help your student JumpStart their college educationThis summer, NOVA will offer a selection of online, tuition-free classes to 3,500 qualified rising high school seniors and those graduating this spring.  Students must be eligible for Title IV funding, meet placement requirements and understand there may be textbook or other material fees associated with certain courses.  Since these classes are all online, students will need access to a computer and the internet.

College and Career Visits
Check Naviance for a list of all the colleges and career information opportunities that will be visiting Osbourn Park. Students may sign up in Naviance. Show your teacher your registration page on your phone as your pass. Attendance will be taken at each visit.



Senior Transcripts: Once transcripts have been uploaded to Naviance students may begin electronically requesting these be sent. You must turn in the FERPA form  to counseling before you can request online. Click link for the form.

Brown Bag Lunches

The Osbourn Park Brown Bag Lunch Program is an opportunity for Osbourn Park students to visit with OP grads who have been successful in specific career fields. Each month an OP grad spends one hour sharing his/her life story with interested students. The professional/occupational targets change from month to month, from engineering to criminal justice, to education, to computer software. The students listen, ask questions and help determine their interest level in the specific profession. Students may sign up through Naviance.
